It is an understatement to say that I am looking forward to fashion week in New York City. The city is a favorite of many, but what it transforms into, during seven days of glamour and spectacle, is something to behold. One would think that constant travel would make a woman tired, however just thinking about all the sights to see on and off the runway makes every moment worth it. In particular I am excited for the collections of Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, and Donna Karan. Also on my “not to miss” list are Jamin Puech, who is showing for the first time in New York, and the up and coming designer Doo Ri. After all the running around from venue to venue I will definitely need to put my feet up. A relaxing cocktail at the recently re-opened Rooftop Bar of the Empire Hotel is my planned destination. With its fantastic views of Lincoln Center and the city below, this stylishly frequented spot is the perfect place to meet style mavens and gurus alike after the front row.
SUIT UP
The old saying goes: we all put our pants on the same way. But as a woman who believes boys shouldn’t have all the fun, there’s something special about a lady in a suit. This sexy checkmate in the world of business always commands attention, and when done right at a black-tie affair it can be the highlight of the fete. By day let them know who pulls rank in a structured military jacket from Balmain. Boldly feminine accessories keep the look girly without overdoing your masculine moment. Then imagine dancing the night away, champagne in hand, in a white sequined skirt suit from Lanvin.
Do the Right Ring
The time for the “right hand ring” is now so take the opportunity to treat yourself to a few cocktails… rings that is. Make a statement with Boaz Kashi’s “Huge” faceted ruby ring in 18k white gold with fantasy-set white diamonds enrobed in 18k yellow gold. Or show everyone your eclectic style with a Tamara Comolli Ocean Jasper cabochon ring with brilliant cut brown pave diamonds.
It's in the Bag
There is something so intoxicating about accessories and their ability to transform an outfit. We feel more pulled together once we’ve put on jewelry, shoes, and finally slipped on the perfect handbag. Structured shapes in supple leathers and skins with get-you-noticed detailing are all signs of this season’s “it” bags. We are in love with the Givenchy “Nightingale” Handbag in the fall neutral, grey, with zipper details. Another bag we are absolutely mad about is the Small “MJ” Crocodile Handbag from Marc Jacobs. The adorable lock and key detail paired with Marc Jacobs’ luggage tags begs the question, where are you going?
