Alexia Connellan

While she had always been drawn to creative pursuits and was a self-described “kid that liked pretty, shiny things,” as an immigrant of Jamaican descent, Alexia Connellan felt compelled to follow a more traditional, “secure” professional trajectory. While attending Columbia University in New York City as a pre-law student, Alexia quickly realized that she found no joy in the prospect of being a lawyer, and she was advised to follow her heart and switch to something in the arts. Already a couple of years into earning her degree, Alexia redirected her focus to Art History and Visual Arts, and she managed to complete her degree in the years remaining in her 4-year college plan.
