SS27 Fashion Week Recap

New York spent the week looking forward to spring, as color, movement and unexpected proportions emerged across collections. Familiar ideas returned with a change in attitude, from sweeping fringe and asymmetrical hems to sheer layers and fluid silk.

At Michael Kors, asymmetry gave black a sense of movement. Long, uninterrupted lines were cut away to reveal a leg mid-stride, turning an otherwise spare silhouette into something far less expected. The effect was strongest in motion, and perfect for the runway.

Orange was already a color to watch for spring, but New York widened the spectrum. Bright yellow appeared at Carolina Herrera, while vivid blues and reds surfaced elsewhere throughout the week. Saturated color will have more than one way into the season.
