Such a Cut-Up... 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2013

While there was so much to take in at the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2013 Runway Show, there was really only one thing to take away: Not only are we huge fans but this is the collection to beat. Playing with the idea of 'Cut Up', a Dadaist Concept, Lim's mix and match pieces formed quite a cohesive and comprehensive collection. From the fabulously mixed florals, the sheer plaids and forest animal prints, to the silk motorcycle jackets

and patchwork denim

practically every note was pitch perfect.

And, oh, those shoes!

Lim has managed to produce a collection that is modern cool with a throw back feel that doesn’t intimidate. There are pieces that when taken out of their ‘grunge’ context, like the leopard print blazer,

could be worn over everything from a strapless mini dress for evening cocktails to work appropriate slacks and a blouse. Be prepared to see many of these pieces in all their mod- podge glory all over street style blogs.

Cutting up as usual, P.S. Overalls are a thing again.
