Inspired by an earring turned ring that belonged to my great-great-grandmother, the Bibi Pendant is a reimagining of that family heirloom into a pendant decorated with Mazahri’s 7 principal motifs representing women, transcendence, guidance, community, peace, expansion, and love around the central .59 carat diamond. The original ancestral ring was passed down through the women in the family and this pendant version celebrates the power of women’s connections through the use of a lapis lazuli rhombus which has traditionally been used to represent women, creativity and femininity in Afghan design.
