Native of London, UK, Nicholas Martin began making high end gold body piercing jewelry in 1995 after a dirt biking accident prevented working his snowboard instructing job in Lake Tahoe, California. Having made wedding bands and engagement rings in Provincetown, Massachusetts as a young immigrant in America, Nick decided to use his skills to create navel curves, threaded ends, nipple rings and beyond for piercing studios in San Francisco and Reno. BVLA was immediately popular among piercers and in 1999 Nick and partner Kerry moved the operation to Los Angeles in search of master jewelers to join in serving an increasing demand.
