Classic elegance and luxury defined Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen’s pre-fall collection, which they shot on three mature models — Linda Rodin, Esther de Jong and Ursula Wallis, who range in age from 40s to 70s — to reflect their clientele. The clothes went from relative basics — A-line skirts in men’s wear fabrics, a khaki trenchcoat and chunky crewneck sweaters — to subtle statement pieces, such as a thick black leather trench and a jacket and skirt in a patchwork embroidery of soft gray and blue flowers.
As usual, the designers’ idea of “everyday” wear was elevated by the focus on the finest fabrics and slightly off-kilter proportions, which extended to accessories (the new bag is a fanny pack).
