Elsa Schiaparelli said that “In difficult times fashion is always outrageous.” I say that when the world hits the skids we show a little more skin; especially with the absolutely melt-worthy heat wave we are experiencing everywhere. I have even opted for something a little sheer; hello linen! So as the heat index continues to climb let us raise a collective fashion voice in praise of all things see through and applaud the trend from its appearance on both the couture and ready-to-wear runways!

No one, and I mean no one, does sheer like Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy. It's sexy without being trashy.

Marc Jacobs for both his eponymous line and Louis Vuitton showcased sheer pieces. At Marissa Collections we love the Marc Jacobs lace blouse in it's cream incarnation. (Totally scorching with hot pants, wedge heels, and pearls!)

Tommy Ton, Jak & Jil Blog Photographer, captures a moment of sheer bliss on the street in Paris. ( Do we call this the trickle down or the trickle up effect? )

We even caught a glimpse of the sheer while we were recently in Milano at the Blumarine Showroom for our Resort 2012 buying trip. Do you dare to bare?
