Narciso Rodriguez Resort 2014
“Stark, graphic and very rich in texture,” said Narciso Rodriguez of the tight edit he chose to present for resort (there was plenty more lining the racks for sales). Another word that aptly described the collection was stunning. Working in black, white and natural linen shown on precise lines, Rodriguez gave the lineup a clean simplicity. Yet the clothes, however unfussy, were deceptively complex, an exercise in exquisite fabric techniques and construction. Short dresses came in X-acto lines. A sheath with a gentle A-line skirt featured panels of bonded satin, a laminate diamond pattern on linen and white silk crepe. A gorgeous strapless style was banded at the bust with a curved seamed detail and fell into an incredible tissue-weight material that combined bonded vertical stripes with a laser-cut floral pattern. The look was sharp but not stiff. Rodriguez kept the attitude relaxed with languid pants and long tunics shown with diamond-patterned, slip-on flats, making chic look easy.
