As the opening to the philanthropic season here in Naples, the Hats in the Garden fundraiser and luncheon to benefit the Naples Botanical Garden sets the tone for the rest of the goings-on here in Southwest Florida. This year’s event was no exception. Held on premises at the Naples Botanical Garden, guests in every type of chapeau under the sun were there to enjoy the newly planted Asian Garden as well as the Scott Florida Garden and Water Garden. While enjoying Florida and Asian-themed foods co-chairs Karen Scott, and Vicky Smith mingled with guests; including guests of Marissa Collections, jewelry designer Roberto Faraone Mennella & Town & Country editor-at-large Pamela Fiori. Key-note speaker for the event was Carolyne Roehm with an inspirational oration of her 10 years designing with Oscar de la Renta and her new passion for interiors. In conjunction with this fantastic function Marissa Collections held our fashion fine jewelry trunk show for Faraone Mennella, who also donated a pair of earrings for charity auction. This went over so well that we have decided to add Faraone Mennella to our family of fashion fine jewelry designers. But, of course, hats were the center of attention. There were definitely both ends of the spectrum and some attendees wore very avant garde pieces, but the understated and chic designs of Marissa Collections featured hat designer Patricia Underwood, (who also attended the event as guest of founding member Ann LaGrippe), allowed both the outfit and hat to shine.
