Brunello Cucinelli Men Fall 2013

Brunello Cucinelli Men's Fall 2013 Collection | A Melting Pot of Cultures

The men's Brunello Cucinelli collection reveals its profound Italian roots as it travels across Europe, looking to reinterpret moods and going beyond the borders of the Old World in search of new inspiration and unusual combinations.

Many prints in outerwear are reminiscent of the typical fabrics used by great British tailors: houndstooth check, Prince of Wales check, herringbone, madras, and windowpane check in green, red or indigo blue that blend so perfectly that, at a distance, they appear to be a solid color.

Ultra-light jackets are made of 200 g cashmere/wool flannel, 200 g cashmere, and 190 g combed wool fabrics. An Italian artisan approach combines light fabrics and deconstructed yet well-tailored styles so easy to wear that they are almost like shirts.

The suit, in combed wool or flannel, has a more modern slim-fit look and can be coordinated with an assortment of accessories: shirts, ties, and pocket squares therefore play a fundamental role.

There is a wide assortment of short, slim-fit single-breasted or one-and-a-half-breasted coats, some with a half-belt, in cashmere beaver or a luxurious 15 micron double wool. Neutral shades (blue, gray and dark brown) are the choice on the outside, while brighter hues (red and green) or blended prints are used for linings.

There are many types of down jacket for every season: from classic ones with ultra-light Thermore padding for fall that can also be worn under coats or caban jackets in the winter, to ultra-light nylon jackets (45 grams per linear meter) padded with 60 grams of goose down. Flannel and beaver down jackets have two types of padding: the “Milano” padding for winter in the city and the “Cortina” padding for cold alpine weather. The collection also includes several down vests.

The outerwear segment features hooded cargo parkas made of waxed cotton-nylon or a wool-cashmere blend as well as cropped biker jackets, denim jackets and raincoats. There are also many leather jackets available in a variety of leathers and styles.

Trousers come in three fits – super slim, slim, and basic – in a range of beiges and browns, blue, red, purple, and green.

Knitwear, which has always been the core of our collections, offers several styles made of different weights of yarn. Knitwear with nylon linings or down padding is worn as outerwear. Cable stitch, shaker knit, and rib knit sweaters come in soft medium-dark hues that are reminiscent of Italian vineyards: the red of falò, barbera and syrah grapes, the purple of passito wine and the petunia, and the green of ferns and copper sulfate. There is a range of blues – ink blue, midnight blue, sapphire, and rainy blue – and beiges and browns such as flax, otter brown, and Arabic coffee. Even grays are medium-dark, such as lead and lignite.

The shoe collection is divided into three themes: formal footwear designed to be worn with a suit on any occasion and special event; sporty shoes that are ideal for a casual chic look in a blazer and trousers or a suit worn on less formal occasions; and outdoor shoes for leisure time or the mountains.

As always, accessories are important and include scarves, gloves, skullcaps, ties, pocket squares, belts, bags, and small leather goods.
