Shimmer down the street ...
There’s a sense of finery in the air this fall. Among the oodles of velvet, lace and fur, brocades and other rich metallic fabrics are showing up on all sorts of pieces beyond glamorous gowns. Like a male bird uses his bright plumage to seduce, women innately understand shine’s appeal. For his inaugural collection at Rochas, Alessandro Dell’Acqua showed voluminous maxi dresses with tiers of brocade. Enamored of Berlin’s rave scene, Phillip Lim modernized glam disco attire for the 21st century. Richness also came naturally to fashion’s ritzier houses from Valentino to Oscar de la Renta.
