1940’s fashion can be described in two words – simple elegance. Due to World War II, fashion was no exception to the rationing system put in place by the government that pretty much impacted all parts of American Life. With it limiting the quantity of fabric used in a single garment, hemlines rose and designs for everything from coats and jackets to undergarments were simplified.
Practicality was key to allow for movement in all facets. Although minimal in construction, 40’s fashion doesn’t lack in class and style. The clothing was strong with broad shoulders, floral prints, defined waistlines and shorter skirts
. Refined, sexy accessories
were the finishing touch to transform the look from common plainness to graceful sophistication.
Taking a cue from the 1940’s trend that is coming back in full swing for fall 2012, Marissa Collections’
